The Lake Erie Lakewide Management Plan (LaMP) is a coordinated by federal,state, and provincial government agencies in the United States and Canada to address lakewide problems that impact the chemical, physical and biological integrity of the lake. The LaMP provides a framework to unite stakeholders to develop and implement actions to restore and protect the Lake Erie ecosystem.
Buffalo River Area of Concern (AOC)
The Buffalo River AOC's remedial activities have focused on stream water quality monitoring, river bottom sediments, inactive hazardous waste sites, municipal and industrial wastewater treatment facilities, combined sewer overflows, and fish and wildlife habitat. The Buffalo River AOC's Remedial Action Plan strategies and remedial activities are described in its June 1999 status report. Special attention is now being given to developing a strategy to address contaminated sediments in the river.
