EPA's Mid-Atlantic Regional Office is promoting and encouraging the use of Environmental Management Systems (EMS) for public and private sector facilities as a vehicle to provide compliance with legal and other requirements, continuous improvement, efficiency in operations, and to prevent pollution.

This website contains general information on EMS as well as links to other EPA Mid-Atlantic Websites with specific information on implementing an EMS in an office setting in our Philadelphia office and in a lab setting in the EPA Environmental Science Center in Fort Meade, Maryland. We also have links to specific information on EMS for water and waste water utilities, federal facilities and to recognize top performing organizations interested in joining the EPA Performance Track.

EPA Mid-Atlantic Philadelphia Office EMS - This website provides our office/facility EMS for the use of the occupants of our space, as well as external stakeholders, and as an example of EMS documentation for others.

EPA Mid-Atlantic Water Protection Division - This website contains information for water and waste water utilities interested in developing an EMS.

EPA Environmental Science Center EMS Webpage - This website contains information on the EMS at Environmental Science Center located in Fort Meade, MD a state-of-the-art laboratory facility.
Performance Track - This website describes a public/private partnership recognizing top environmental performance among participating U.S. facilities of all types, sizes, and complexity, public and private. Program partners are providing leadership in many areas, including preventing pollution at its source.
EPA Headquarters EMS Webpage - This Web site provides information and resources related to Environmental Management Systems (EMSs) for businesses, associations, the public, and state and federal agencies.
