Army Corps of Engineers (ACOE)
The ACOE uses its engineering capabilities to address a wide variety of engineering challenges that may be found at brownfield sites, including but not limited to: flood control and navigation; remediation; environmental restoration, stewardship and compliance; infrastructure renewal and water resource development.

The Brownfields Economic Development Initiative (BEDI) is a key competitive grant program that HUD administers to stimulate and promote economic and community development.
National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)
NOAA’s role is as the primary coastal stewardship agency. Since 1997, the Department of Commerce and NOAA have contributed funding, facilitation, and/or technical expertise at coastal Brownfields sites.
Brownfield Showcase Communities
NOAA has provided services ranging from technical assistance, marketing and outreach, and financial assistance to several coastal Showcase Communities.
Portfields is a NOAA led federal interagency effort that focuses on the redevelopment of brownfields in port and harbor areas.
- NOAA has also created a lessons learned report that summarizes progress made during the second year in the three Portfields pilot locations.

NIEHA hosts the Worker Education and Training Program that trains and educates workers engaged in activities related to hazardous materials and waste generation, removal, containment, transportation and emergency response.
