Environmental Management System (EMS) Policy
The Science and Ecosystem Support Division is committed to EMS and supports this program in a variety of ways that go beyond fulfilling regulatory requirements. We have a very aggressive recycling program that includes batteries, Styrofoam, paper, boxes, plastics, metals, and techno trash. We compost food waste on-site that averages 6.6 Kg of material per day and recycle organic solvents for re-use. One of our biggest successes is a chemical and labware adoption program where we donate unwanted items to regional schools and higher education institutions. SESD employees embrace the philosophy of EMS and are dedicated to making it a top-notch program.View the SESD EMS Policy Statement (PDF) (1 pp, 757 K, About PDF).
