Superfund Redevelopment in Region 4
The national Superfund Redevelopment program and Region 4 are committed to identifying partnership opportunities to assist in the Superfund redevelopment process. The links below provide information on two EPA partnerships that are helping promote the redevelopment of Superfund sites.
- Academy of Model Aeronautics
EPA has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Academy of Model Aeronautics in which EPA will provide publicly available information to the Academy about which Superfund sites have the physical characteristics that the Academy finds suitable for flying model airplanes. In exchange, the Academy's member clubs will provide services, such as mowing and fence maintenance, on the parts of cleaned-up Superfund land they use.
EPA has entered into a partnership with the U.S. Soccer Foundation. If a community is interested in reusing all or a portion of a site for soccer fields, EPA can provide a referral to the U.S. Soccer Foundation. In exchange, the Foundation will provide free design and engineering services and sports equipment to communities that want to build soccer fields on Superfund land that has been cleaned up, and where EPA has determined that recreational use is appropriate.
