Copper Basin Mining District Historic Photographs

Description: This is a photo of some of the waste materials at the Isabella area near the Ellis Branch of North Potato Creek. At various times in history, the Isabella area was the site of roasting, smelting, concentration, flotation, and acid production facilities. Wastes left from these operations may contaminate area soils, surface water and groundwater. Glenn Springs Holdings, the State of Tennessee, and EPA are evaluating subaqueous disposal of these materials in the nearby Isabella mine collapse.
