Alabama
The Nonpoint Source Program
The Alabama Nonpoint Source Program was established in 1987 to support local and statewide nonpoint source pollution control efforts. Since that time, the Alabama Department of Environmental Management has been awarded more than $47,000,000 in Nonpoint Source Pollution grant funds through Section 319 of the Clean Water Act.
The grant awards are supplemented by a 40% nonfederal match from the State. These awards assist state agencies and colleges, city and county governments, and local authorities develop projects to protect and restore Alabama watersheds.
