The Nonpoint Source Management Program

The Nonpoint Source Management Program is administered by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP); projects are implemented cooperatively with the assistance of five Water Management Districts, state universities, local governments, nonprofit organizations and other state agencies. The goal of these programs is to minimize nonpoint source pollution (polluted runoff) from new land use activities and to reduce pollution from existing land activities.

Since 1989, the Florida Nonpoint Source Management Program has been awarded more than $93,000,000 in Nonpoint Source Pollution grant funds through Section 319 of the Clean Water Act. Grant awards are supplemented by a 40% nonfederal match from the State. The Florida Nonpoint Source Management Section administers several programs including State Stormwater Management Programs, the Coastal Nonpoint Source Management Program and the Clean Lakes Program.
