Green and Healthy Schools Art Challenge

June 2011

The Green and Healthy Schools Art Challenge received over 200 applications from sixth through eighth graders in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin.

Participants drew or painted a picture in response to the question, "What makes (or what could make) your school green and healthy." The six winners selected will receive a plaque and a Kill-A-WattEZ electricity usage monitor

Megan Gavin, Environmental Education Coordinator for Region 5 said, "The judges had a tough assignment this year. The entries all showed creativity and a desire to make a difference in greening their schools. It is inspiring to see such talented young people taking an active interest in protecting the environments in their local communities."
