Ground Water & Drinking Water
The Water Division's Ground Water and Drinking
Water Branch (Branch) works to ensure safe public drinking water for
all people in Region 5; supports State, Federal, and Tribal ground
water protection efforts; and guides the development and implementation
of source water assessment and protection programs. The Branch directs
the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA) Region 5 ground
water and water supply programs within the broad guidelines and policy
established by U.S. EPA Headquarters, the Regional Administrator,
the Water Division Director, and the Branch Chief. The Branch serves
as the Regional focal point for all matters relating to the safety
of drinking water, the reliability of water supply systems, and implementation
of the Ground Water and Public Water System Supervision program portions
of the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA).
