- Ohio CAFO Program Public Notice
EPA proposes to approve a revision to Ohio's National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) program. The state has asked EPA to allow Ohio Department of Agriculture to administer the part of the NPDES program that deals with concentrated animal feeding operations. The public has until December 16, 2008 to comment on the proposal. (More on Proposed Ohio CAFO Program Revision)
- Kennecott Eagle Minerals Company proposes to begin a nickel and copper sulfide mining operation within the Yellow Dog Plains of northwestern Marquette County in the Upper Pennisula of Michigan. EPA notified Kennecott Eagle Minerals Company that it must obtain approval from the Underground Injection Control (UIC) Program before construction and operation of any underground disposal system at the mining site. EPA requires this approval under the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) to protect underground sources of drinking water. (More on Kennecott Eagle Project)

- EPA Authorizes Tribe to Run Its Own Water Quality Standards Program. EPA signed the Clean Water Act authorization on April 8, 2008 for the Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians in Lac du Flambeau, Wisconsin.
