NPDES Permit Applications
All States in Region 5 have the authority to issue both individual and general permits. Includes links to state permit sites.

NPDES Regulations
EPA, in coordination with States, the regulated community, and the public develops, implements, and conducts oversight of the NPDES permit program based on statutory requirements contained in the Clean Water Act and regulatory requirements contained in the NPDES regulations. As changes to the NPDES regulations are needed, EPA issues proposed and final rules related to the NPDES permit program.

"No Discharge Zones" in Region 5
“No Discharge Zones” are designated bodies of waters that prohibit the discharge of treated and untreated boat sewage.

Pretreatment
Requires non-domestic dischargers to comply with pretreatment standards to ensure the goals of the Clean Water Act are attained.

Stormwater

Provides technical assistance to wastwater treatment plant operators and biosolids applicators in complying with the use and disposal of biosolids.

Municipal Wastewater Technical Assistance
A network of operator trainers who provide on-site technical assistance to enhance effective and efficient wastewater treatment operations and compliance of municipalities with their NPDES permit requirements.

Decentralized Treatment Systems
Decentralized treatment systems include individual onsite septic systems,
cluster systems, and alternative wastewater technologies.
