The Permit Compliance System (PCS) is the national database used to track compliance with National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Permit requirements. Facilities in PCS are identified as either major or minor. Within the major/minor classification, facilities are grouped into municipals or non-municipals. Major municipals are defined as facilities which discharge at least 1 MGD or more. Major non-municipals are facilities whose major rating code(MRAT) is at least 80 or higher. PCS provides information on facilities which have been issued permits to discharge specific levels of waste water into lakes, rivers and streams. You can review information on when a permit was issued and expires, how much the company is permitted to discharge, and the actual monitoring data showing what the company has discharged (Envirofacts), etc... In addition, data is available showing enforcement, compliance schedules and compliance monitoring that has occured under the NPDES program.

The following reports and files have been provided for your convenience
and consist of PCS data specific to Region 5. These reports, files
and formats are contained
in zip files and may be transferred and saved by clicking on the
hypertext below.
These files contain simple ASCII text data that have been compressed
using the universal "zip" format, to save space and reduce
download times. After downloading, they must be uncompressed before
use, with any one of several widely available unzipping utilities
(PKzip, Winzip, Zipmagic, etc.). Or you may use the Contact Us link
on this page to request a file in the native text format.
Mailing Information: Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, and Wisconsin. Contains mailing and contact information for all Region 5 major and minor NPDES permitees.
Compliance Schedule Information: Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, and Wisconsin. Files contain compliance schedule/milestone information for major dischargers.
Enforcement Action Information: Files contain state and federal enforcement action information for Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, and Wisconsin.
Permit limit information: Files contain permitted discharge limit information by state for major NPDES permittees.
