Federal Facilities Base Closure and Realignment (BRAC)
The BCTs take a partnership approach to the BRAC projects and all decisions are reached on a consensus basis between DOD, U.S. EPA and the State. The U.S. EPA BCT member is supported by technical experts on the BRAC staff. The overall goal of the BRAC program is to get former military property back to beneficial public use. Once BRAC property is determined to be clean, a Finding Of Suitability to Transfer (FOST) is written by DOD and agreed upon by the regulators. Properties can also be leased while they are being cleaned up if a Finding Of Suitability to Lease (FOSL) is completed. Further information on the Internet
