Compliance assistance includes activities, tools or technical assistance that provides clear and consistent information for 1) helping business, industry and government agencies understand and meet their environmental obligations; 2) compliance assistance providers to aid the regulated community in complying with environmental regulations.
Compliance Assistance may also help the regulated community find cost-effective ways to comply with regulations and/or go "beyond compliance" through the use of pollution prevention, environmental management practices, and innovative technologies thus improving their environmental performance.
Statute-specific assistance includes activities or tools related to specific EPA statutes or regulations. Sector-oriented assistance addresses compliance issues or needs across particular business and industry sectors (e.g.,dry cleaning, metal finishers, furniture manufacturers) or to government sectors (e.g., local governments, tribal governments and federal government facilities).
EPA, working in partnership with industry, academic institutions, environmental groups, and other federal and state agencies, has established the Compliance Assistance Centers (Center). Each Center addresses a specific industry or government sector and consolidates and explains relevant environmental requirements and solutions.
