Federal Facilities Stormwater Workshop

On April 28-29, 2009, Region 6 Federal Facilities Program hosted a Stormwater Workshop. Inspectors and program managers from Regions 3, 4, 6 and 9, including representatives from 18 federal and 2 state agencies were in attendance. Presentations and training were provided by the CAED Stormwater Team, Surveillance Section, Regional Council and the Texas Commission for Environmental Quality. In addition to the basic Stormwater requirements, extensive training was provided in the areas of Construction, Industrial, and Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems (MS4)/ Municipalities relative to permit requirements, enforcement, legal, and inspections at federal facilities. The interaction among the EPA, federal facilities and the states is paramount in identifying specific tools, guidance and best practices to help personnel manage environmental compliance. The workshop concluded with mock field inspections at a stadium in Irving, Texas and a school in Plano, Texas.
