Potential Pilots

Waste is lost raw material, lost product, and lost profit. Waste minimization can reduce these losses while improving your bottom line and environmental results.

The Region is soliciting ideas for new pilot projects that focus on one or more of the areas below:

Projects reducing and/or recycling 30 priority chemicals;

Mining waste reuse;

Oil pit waste reuse;

Waste minimization efforts for wood treatment facilities;

Recovery of methane from landfills, wastewater treatment plants or concentrated animal feeding operations for energy; and

Tire reuse/recycling - TDF & Asphalt Rubber

Louisiana

Currently working on Pilots with Louisiana.

New Mexico Pilots

Region 6 has partnered with EPA Headquarters, the New Mexico Environment Department, and the Mining and Minerals Division of the New Mexico Energy, Minerals, and Natural Resources Department to assess possibilities of land reuse for renewable energy projects. More information on this project is coming soon!

BASF Freeport- PDF [68 kb]

BASF in Freeport, Texas identified a commercial market in the carbon black industry for one of the site's process streams, EP-530, which has been typically shipped offsite for fuels blending or incineration.
