Impaired Water Bodies in Texas
EPA Approves State of Texas' 2012 Clean Water Act §303(d) List
EPA is fully approving Texas’ 2012 303(d) list submission. After a complete review, EPA concluded the state properly assembled and evaluated all existing and readily available data to meet the requirements of the Clean Water Act. The listing of water bodies that fail to meet water quality standards is required by section 303(d) of the Clean Water Act. Water bodies included on this list receive additional attention and resources to reduce pollution, protect public health, and provide for healthy aquatic life.
Texas’ 2012 Section 303(d) list submission includes 568 impairments. The state listings are based on assessment methodologies and data and information described in the state submittal.
