No Discharge Areas in New Mexico Lakes
Throughout the state of New Mexico, the EPA has identified 1,256 lakes. New Mexico’s statewide average annual precipitation is 14 inches. Considering the scarcity of water in New Mexico, it is no surprise the State has established that all of the lakes in New Mexico are to be afforded the protection of No Discharge Zones to maintain the quality of this precious commodity.
