ATSDR Reports Available
The Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) has released three health consultation reports and a public health assessment for the Amoco site in Sugar Creek. The report titles are Indoor Air in Two Residences in the Norledge Area; Review of March 2000 Sediment and Surface Water Data; Review of 1996 Water and Soil Data; and Petitioned Public Health Assessment for Amoco Oil Company in Sugar Creek. ATSDR did not identify any apparent public health hazard or expected adverse health effects from the data evaluated for these reports. ATSDR recommends that potential future exposures to contaminated groundwater be prevented; continued remediation of the contaminated groundwater in the Norledge area; and precautionary measures to prevent worker and resident exposures to crude oil that may be encountered during drilling, building and excavating activities. Also, additional sediment and surface water sampling at the seepage area and the drainage ditch located near Ohio Street and further sampling and analysis of water in Sugar Creek and soil and sediment along the bank is recommended. To request a copy of any of these reports call Denise Jordan-Izaguirre at (913) 551-1310.
