State Sites
Sites not addressed by EPA as Superfund or RCRA sites are often times managed by or the responsibility of the state in which the site is located. State cleanup programs can vary considerably from state to state. Many states have a state Superfund program or state Brownfield program. Other states also have "voluntary cleanup" programs that address other contaminated sites ("Brownfields"), though these vary in scope in terms of type and extent of contaminated sites that are addressed. The following map can be used to gather information on different state site types in Region 7.
