Air Toxics Program

The air we breathe can contain toxic air pollutants released from sources such as factories, refineries, power plants, small businesses, cars, trucks and the products we use. EPA is concerned about these pollutants because they can be harmful to people's health and the environment. Section 112 of the Clean Air Act of 1990 requires EPA to investigate, control, and reduce the emission of air toxics or hazardous air pollutants into the air we breathe and is called the Air Toxics Program.

The EPA publication "Taking Toxics Out of the Air" is a quick guide to the Air Toxics Program. You may review the guide by going to the EPA web page "Taking Toxics Out of the Air".; You can also go to the EPA Toxics Air Pollutants home page.
