Vehicle tracking systems use Global Positioning System (GPS) technologies to track the location, performance, and engine diagnostics of vehicles. With a vehicle tracking system, it is possible to reduce fuel consumption and prevent pollution, recover assets in the event of theft, reduce idling time, and positively influence driver behavior. Fleet managers may be interested in these systems as cost recovery can less than one year for certain types of vehicles. The RMCDC provides case studies and funding opportunities so that fleet managers can evaluate the benefits, cost savings, and pollution reduction potential of these systems.
