Municipal Solid Waste
Nevada received approval from EPA
for its solid waste program in April of 1994. EPA delegated authority to
implement the states solid waste program to the Nevada
Division of Environmental Protection (NDEP) ,
who in turn delegated authority to the Clark and Washoe County Health Districts.
NDEP maintains jurisdiction in all other counties in Nevada.
Nevada Agencies
The Nevada Division of Environmental
Protection (NDEP) administers
solid waste management regulations, including permitting and enforcement
for all counties, except Clark and Washoe. Nevada has established a recycling
goal of 25 percent.
The Clark County Health District, Environmental Health Division, administers solid waste management regulations, including permitting and enforcement. Clark County includes the city of Las Vegas and the surrounding area.

Nevada Solid Waste Grants
Nevada Division of Environmental Protection (NDEP) funded $120,000 in contracts for waste reduction initiatives. Check with NDEP's Recycling Program for specific requirements.
