Forever Changed

Intergenerational Description of Joint Project

It was a class project. I wrote it and she made edits and changes.

Celebration of Rachel Carson’s Sense of Wonder

While writing this essay, I realized just how much I truly learned from being in nature. I knew it changed how I thought, but I realized when I started writing, just how much it changed me. Creation is a wonderful thing.

Forever Changed

My journey starts at three AM. I close my eyes and hear the distractions. I open my eye and see the distractions. The city lights, the car horns, and the worries of this life surround me. In just three and a half hours I'll be in a complete different world. I go with misconceptions, expecting all the distractions I'm accustomed to. I step out. This whirlwind strips me of my prior stereotypes of nature in itself. The misconceptions leave me as I stand in complete awe of this incredible place.

The crisp and bitter taste of the air overwhelms me. The sand welcomes my ghostly white hesitant feet. Without a second going by, my feet carry me to the water. It's amazing. The color so pure, so blue. So many thoughts flood my mind.  There's something about being in complete creation. I'd be lying if I said I've never wanted to see proof of a Creator, but I'm reminded now that the proof is all around me. Any prior doubts I had crash with the waves. My eyes are glued to the pure blue landscape in front of me, stretched as far as my eye can see.

My daydreaming soon comes to a brutal end as I realize my fair skin is no match for this powerful sun. The rays seep through my freshly applied sunscreen, pinching the the hair on my arms in complete shock. The beautiful show the waves put on, make the burning sensation all worth it. The days fly by as I try and comprehend completely the innocence that nature has. Time to go back home, but I will go not unchanged. My view is different.  You can find the beauty in nature no matter where you are.
