Intergenerational Description of Joint Project
To come to work on this project, my dad and I started to brainstorm on ideas, we wanted to create a poem teaching people about the dangers of global warming, pollution, deforestation and the sun. We created a dialogue poem, between my dad and I.
Celebration of Rachel Carson’s Sense of Wonder
This project brought our team in touch with nature because we thought about how to help our environment. We talked about many different issues, involving the environment.
Daughter, let us go for a walk in the warmth of the sun.
But dad, let us first put on sun block to protect us from the sun’s rays
Daughter, I want to tan.
But dad, the sun’s deleterious ultraviolet rays can cause skin cancer.
Daughter, let us cut down some of these trees in clear a field to play
But dad, these trees provide us the oxygen we breathe.
Daughter, let us use the timber to build a summer cottage.
But dad, these woods are already home to animals, birds and insects.
Daughter, let us use the wood to build huge bonfires.
But dad, we would be polluting the air.
Daughter, we could drive and park our camper here.
But dad, the exhaust from driving the camper will contribute to global warming.
Daughter, we can escape from the heat with the camper’s air conditioning.
But dad, if the Freon escapes it will cause acid rain.
Daughter, did you bring bottled water?
But dad, plastic bottles pollute our environment. Drink from this canteen.
Daughter, let us spray insecticide to get rid of the insects.
But dad, the insecticide poisons our water supplies and the plants and flowers need the insects.
Daughter, let us lay in this field of flowers and watch the clouds.
Great idea dad, that cloud looks like a blossoming flower.
