Currently available as a password protection beta-version, EnviroAtlas is a collection of tools and resources that provides geospatial data, maps, research, and analysis on the relationships between nature, people, health, and the economy. Using EnviroAtlas, you can see and explore information related to the benefits that humans receive from nature. These benefits include clean air, clean and plentiful water, natural hazard mitigation, biodiversity conservation, food, fuel, and materials, recreational opportunities, and cultural and aesthetic value. EnviroAtlas contains information on the status of these benefits, the ecosystems that provide and protect them, and related health and economic impacts.
EnviroAtlas is being designed for staff from all levels of government, professionals, researchers, educators, non-government organizations, and anyone with an interest in the benefits societies receive from the natural environment. You do not need any experience with GIS or special GIS software, though using the interactive map does require a flash player.
