Water Research
Models, Databases and Tools for Water Resource Protection
Researchers provide sophisticated models and tools that are widely used to manage and protect water resources across the Nation. Models provide Clean Water Act implementation assistance to regional managers, offering technical expertise for the development of pollution and waste load limits and watershed protection plans. Water tools and databases also provide key information to regulators, utilities, scientists and the public regarding:
- pollutant sources and fate
- water quality and aquatic toxicity
- contaminant information
- water treatment options
- climate change predictions for water resources
In addition, research is also underway to link water modeling tools with modeling tools for other media (e.g., air) and to begin efforts to develop an integrated multimedia modeling system.
