Building Automation System

The building automation system (BAS) helps to promote energy conservation. It allows EPA to monitor and control:

  • fans
  • pumps
  • motors
  • air handlers
  • lights
  • other systems and equipment
Thousands of sensors indicate temperatures, humidity levels, carbon dioxide concentrations and more -- and the BAS responds by providing on an as-needed basis:
  • heat
  • cooling
  • ventilation
  • fresh air
As a result, high performance is achieved with minimal energy investment.

In addition, the BAS indicates when filters are clogged, motors and pumps need to be repaired, or other problems exist. This allows EPA to target repairs where and when they are needed.
