Minority Academic Institutions (MAIs)
Minority Academic Institutions as designated by the Department of Education include Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs); Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs); Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs); Alaska Native Serving Institutions, and Native Hawaiian Serving Institutions.
Minority Academic Institutions have been steadfast champions in providing education to thousands of Americans that would otherwise be denied a quality education. However, throughout our history these institutions have not been afforded access to the lucrative federal partnerships that enabled our largest academic institutions to develop their institutional capacity and competitive edge.
