The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Asbestos and Small Business Ombudsman (ASBO), Office of Small Business Programs, under the Office of the Administrator, serves as a conduit for small businesses to access EPA and facilitates communications
between the small business community and the Agency.

EPA’s Office of Small Business Programs is proud to announce that a cooperative agreement has been officially awarded to Kansas State University’s (K-State) Pollution Prevention Institute (PPI) for the Development and Management of the National Small Business Ombudsman/Small Business Environmental Assistance Provider 507 Program Website. This cooperative agreement funds an important website resource and directory that can be used as a compliance resource for the small business community and the State Small Business Environmental Assistance Program (established under section 507 of the 1990 Clean Air Act Amendments).

EPA is very excited for K-State to get started on the development of the website, which will continue to grow and improve as time and input from the program continues. Nancy Larson, who is Kansas State’s PPI director, will serve as the key point of contact for this project. Nancy and PPI are very excited and honored to work on this important project. Their plan is to work closely with the 507 website subcommittee, gathering input from the state programs, and hopes to launch the first phase of the website quickly once fully operational. Ultimately, PPI’s expectation is for this new website to expand 507 Program capacity and vision through collaboration and tool sharing, bringing new ideas that will increase knowledge, efficiency, and innovation. Larson brings to this project has more than 30 years of experience working in the environmental and public health arena, and has been with PPI for more than 15 years, managing the Kansas SBEAP (including website oversight) since 2004.

Check back periodically! Once the website goes live, www.nationalsbeap.org will be your go to site for state specific small business environmental compliance assistance materials, contact information and more.
