  9. Click the “Finish” button, after which the Setup Wizard will close. HealthySEATv2 is now installed, and an icon will appear on your desktop with the caption “HealthySEAT2.”

  10. Double-click the HealthySEAT2 icon on your desktop. Read and accept all security warnings (these may vary depending on your computer's configuration).

  11. First time HealthySEATv2 users will be able to open and begin customizing HealthySEATv2 without having to first login with a user name and password. Security should be enabled only after you are thoroughly familiar with the security features of HealthySEATv2 and ready to deploy the application to multiple users.

(Note: if you are upgrading from Version 1, any security in use with Version 1 will be active when you first open a version 2 database.)

  12. See the User's Manual for login and customization instructions. You can access the User's Manual from the Main Menu of HealthySEAT, browse on-line in HTML format, or download it in .pdf format.

Installing HealthySEATv2 on a Network

If you intend to use HealthySEATv2 in a multi-user networked environment, it is highly recommended that you coordinate with a District IT (Information Technology) specialist and review the information for advanced users found in the User's Manual in Section 7. If you are upgrading from a previous HealthySEAT version, refer to Section 4.3.1 of the User's Manual for help re-connecting to your existing HealthySEAT database.

Upgrading From Version 1 to Version 2 (v2)

The following two subsections apply only if you have used HealthySEAT Version 1 to customize your assessment program, or enter important data. If you have installed, but not used HealthySEAT Version 1, go directly to the subsection below entitled "Uninstalling HealthySEAT Version 1".

Before Installing HealthySEATv2

If you have used HealthySEAT Version 1 to customize your assessment program, or enter important data, follow these steps to ensure that your data is not lost or corrupted during the process of upgrading to HealthySEATv2:
  1. Open HealthySEAT Version 1.
  2. From the HealthySEAT Version 1 Main Menu, click on the button labeled "Customize for District"
  3. From the Customize for District screen, click on the button labeled “Establish Database Connection”
  4. From the Establish Database Connection screen, note the full path to the current back end database connection.
  5. Exit HealthySEAT Version 1.
  6. Make sure no other user has HealthySEAT open, or is connected to the back end database (see Section 8.3 of the User's Manual for more information).
  7. Go the location noted in Step 3 and copy BE_HSEAT.mdb to a local folder (e.g., "C:\HealthySEATv1\Backend").

After Installing HealthySEATv2

If you have used HealthySEAT Version 1 to customize your assessment program, or enter important data, follow these steps to ensure that your data is not lost or corrupted during the process of upgrading to HealthySEATv2, follow these steps:

Note: this only applies to HealthySEAT Version 1 users who are upgrading to HealthySEATv2, and who have entered important data into their HealthySEAT Version 1 database. After downloading and installing HealthySEATv2, the first time you run HealthySEATv2 it will automatically connect to a blank Version 2 database. However, you will likely want to connect to your existing Version 1 database. To do so, you must be a HealthySEAT user with administrator privileges. Follow these steps:

  1. Create a subfolder in the HealthySEATv2 installation folder (e.g., default is C:\Program Files\HealthySEAT2) called "V1_Upgraded."
  2. Copy the Version 1 back end database (e.g, C:\HealthySEATv1\Backend\BE_HSEAT.mdb) to the newly created subfolder (e.g., C:\Program Files\HealthySEAT2\V1_Upgraded). This is the working copy of the Version 1 back end database that will be upgraded.
  3. Open HealthySEATv2.
  4. From the HealthySEATv2 Main Menu, click on the button labeled "Customize for District."
  5. From the Customize for District screen, click on the button labeled "Re-establish Database Connection."
  6. From the Re-establish Database Connection screen, click on the Browse button.
  7. A dialog box entitled “Select the database file…” will appear.
  8. Use this dialog box to navigate to the working copy of your HealthySEAT Version 1 back end database (e.g., C:\Program Files\HealthySEAT2\V1_Upgraded\BE_HSEAT.mdb).
  9. The full path the database file selected should appear in the text box labeled “Establish Connection To:”
  10. If the path is correct, click the button labeled “Establish Connection.” You will be notified that the database you are trying to connect to needs to be updated, and asked for permission to proceed. Acknowledge all such messages. After the update is completed, you should receive confirmation that the update process completed successfully.
  11. Click on the button labeled "Save and Return to Customize for District."
  12. Use the buttons on the Customize for District screen to make sure that you can access your Version 1 data (e.g., facilities, assessors, guidebook changes).
  13. Exit HealthySEATv2 using the Exit button on the button bar.

If you are using HealthySEAT is a single-user environment, go directly to the subsection below entitled "Uninstalling HealthySEAT Version 1."

If you are using HealthySEAT in a multi-user networked environment, then follow these additional steps:

  1. Copy the newly converted Version 1 database (e.g., C:\Program Files\HealthySEAT2\V1_Upgraded\BE_HSEAT.mdb) to the folder noted in Step 3 of the subsection above entitled "Before Installing HealthySEAT v2". When prompted, confirm that you wish to overwrite the existing file. This is the shared production copy of the Version 2 back end database.
  2. Open HealthySEATv2.
  3. From the HealthySEATv2 Main Menu, click on the button labeled "Customize for District."
  4. From the Customize for District screen, click on the button labeled "Re-establish Database Connection."
  5. From the Re-establish Database Connection screen, click on the Browse button.
  6. A dialog box entitled “Select the database file…” will appear.
  7. Use this dialog box to navigate to the shared production copy of the Version 2 back end database (see Step 13 above).
  8. The full path the database file selected should appear in the text box labeled “Establish Connection To:”
  9. If the path is correct, click the button labeled “Establish Connection.” You should receive a confirmation message after the database connection is re-established successfully.
  10. Click on the button labeled "Save and Return to Customize for District."
  11. Exit HealthySEATv2 using the Exit button in the button bar.
  12. For each HealthySEAT user, repeat steps 14 through 22 after HealthySEATv2 is installed, then follow the steps under the subsection below entitled "Uninstalling HealthySEAT Version 1."

What Happens During the Database Upgrade Process? HealthySEATv2 cannot be used with a HealthySEAT Version 1 database until that database is updated. Following are some details about what exactly happens during the database upgrade process. We encourage you to read this information carefully before upgrading to HealthySEATv2.

When updating a Version 1 database, HealthySEATv2 will:

  • Make a backup copy of your Version 1 back end database (BE_HSEAT.bak) and place it in same folder as the back end database that is being updated.
  • Add to your database additional tables and fields that are necessary to support Version 2 features
  • Upgrade the default EPA guidebook and checklist data
  • Add a custom checklist called HealthySEAT Example Starter Checklist
  • Set a configuration bit in the back end database to indicate that it has been updated to Version 2
  • When upgrading a Version 1 database, HealthySEATv2 will NOT:

  • Delete or overwrite any district-specific configuration settings
  • Delete or overwrite any district-specific program information
  • Delete or overwrite application settings, including security settings
  • Delete or overwrite assessments or recommendations

    Uninstalling HealthySEAT Version 1

    Uninstalling HealthySEAT Version 2

If you are preparing to install the new Version 2.002 release, you must first uninstall your existing HealthySEATv2 database. This is bcause Version 2.002 will not overwrite your existing Version 2. To uninstall Version 2, use the following steps:

    1. Open the Windows Control Panel.
    2. Select "Add or Remove Programs."
    3. From the list of "Currently installed programs:" select the entry labeled "HealthySEAT Version 2".
    4. Click on the "Remove" button.
