Identification and Organization of Stakeholders

EPA intends to develop a strategy to identify, prioritize and test the chemicals and pesticides that may pose significant risk of endocrine disruption. Given the number of pesticides and chemicals, a necessary first step is to develop processes to (1) prioritize chemicals and pesticides for screening and testing needs, and (2) complete the needed testing. A multi-stakeholder group was formed to develop a strategy to accomplish this mission. These stakeholders represent EPA, other Federal Departments (Food and Drug Administration, National Institute of Health, Fish and Wildlife Service, etc.), industry groups (Chemical Manufacturers Association, etc.), various environmental advocacy groups, and members of the academic community at large.

As a first step toward establishing a multi-stakeholder group, EPA held several meetings regarding the screening and testing of chemicals for their potential to disrupt the endocrine system:
