Personal Biography of Joel Coats, Ph.D.Dr. Coats is Professor and Chair, Department of Entomology, Iowa State University. Dr. Coats' research interests are in insecticide toxicology and environmental toxicology/chemistry and he is either an author or coauthor of over 80 peer reviewed publications on these topics. Prior positions include Guest Scientist at the Institute for the Chemistry and Dynamics of the Geosphere, Research Center Jülich, Jülich, Germany; Visiting Professor at the Department of Environmental Biology, University of Guelph, Guelph, Ontario, Canada, and Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Department of Entomology, University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. He is a member of several scientific organizations including the American Association for the Advancement of Science, American Chemical Society, Entomological Society of America, Pesticide Science Society of Japan, QSAR Society, Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry, Society of Toxicology. Dr. Coats holds a Ph.D. in Entomology (Insecticide Toxicology) and a Minor in Chemistry from the University of Illinois, a M.S. in Entomology from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign and a B.S. in Zoology (with distinction) and Minor in Chemistry from Arizona State University.
