Historical Compliance Data
Compliance and enforcement data presented by
SFIP is drawn from the EPA's Integrated Data for Enforcement
Analysis (IDEA)
system.
- Facility-level Statistics reports: data is current as
of IDEA's April 2004 refresh.
- Detailed Facility Reports: data is current as of IDEA's
latest refresh. Refresh dates for the individual media databases
(AFS for Clean Air Act data, PCS for Clean Water Act data,
and RCRAInfo for Resource Conservation and Recovery Act
data) integrated by IDEA appear at the bottom of each Detailed
Facility Report.
EPA is committed to providing the greatest possible
quality of data in SFIP. Changes made to the data maintained
in AFS, PCS, and RCRAInfo are incorporated into IDEA on a
regular schedule, and in turn, are incorporated into SFIP.
Facilities may submit general or line-specific comments directly
to EPA by clicking on the "Report Error" button
at the top of their Detailed Facility Reports.
Spill Records
Pollutant spill records present data from the
Emergency Response Notification System (ERNS)
database, and include spills reported between June 1, 2001
and May 31, 2003.
Toxics Release Inventory
Data
SFIP presents TRI
data from two sources. TRI Comparative spreadsheets, which
can be downloaded from the Data Access
page, are based on 2001 data "frozen" at the time
of their public release by EPA. TRI release and transfer data
presented in facility-level statistics reports and data summaries
for the five industry sectors and the subset of federal facilities
are the most current data maintained in the IDEA system (currently
2001 filings), and reflect any revised reports submitted since
the latest public data release.
Production/Capacity Data
Annual production and production capacity data
presented by SFIP are compiled once per year when the TRI
Comparative spreadsheets (see above) are prepared. Production
data presented are for the same year for which TRI "frozen"
data (see above) are available, currently 2001.
SFIP Facility Universe
EPA refers to the facilities included in SFIP
as the "SFIP Facility Universe". Automobile assembly
plants, iron and steel producers, petroleum refineries, primary
nonferrous smelters and refiners, pulp mills, and federal
facilities are included in SFIP if they operated during the
calendar year covered by the current "frozen" TRI
data, currently 2001. For definitions of the sectors included
in SFIP and a list of sources used to create SFIP's facility
universe, click here. The facility
universe is updated during the review of production data performed
each year when new TRI data are publicly released.
