ERNS Data Dictionary

Responsible Organization (RSPORG): The discharger organization considered to be the potentially responsible party for the release.

Date of Spill (DTINCD): The date the incident/spill/release was reported to have occurred.

Incident Address (INCADDR, INCLOC or INCSTR1): The address where the incident/spill/release occurred. Uses INCADDR first, when available, then INCLOC, then INCSTR1.
City of Incident (INCCITY): The city where the incident/spill/release occurred.

The state where the incident/spill/release occurred.

Zip Code of Incident (INCZIP9): The postal zip code of the area where the incident/spill/release occurred.

Substance Released (MATL): The name of the substance or substances released.

Quantity Spilled (MATLAMT): The quantity of the substance released.

Units Spilled (MATAMU): Unit of measurement for Quantity Spilled.

No. of Injuries (NINJS): Number of injuries resulting from releases as reported. The injuries may be the result of either the accident causing the release, or from exposure to the substance(s) released.

No. of Deaths (NFATAL): Number of fatalities resulting from releases as reported. The fatalities may be the result of either the accident causing the release, or from exposure to the substance(s) released.
