June 2002
SFIP reformatted
The SFIP website has been reformatted to conform
to EPA's new look and feel. The content of the site has not
changed.
SFIP goes "Live"
As of January 2002, the SFIP website presents
"current" data from EPA's Integrated Data for Enforcement
Analysis (IDEA) system. Because IDEA is updated monthly, SFIP
now presents more timely data than when it was limited to
quarterly updates. In accord with these new capabilities,
EPA has also made minor changes to the website's organization
and appearance.
Online Error Correction
SFIP's new online error correction process is also
in effect as of January 2002. A facility can now submit general
or line-specific comments directly to EPA by clicking on the
"Report Error" button at the top of its Detailed
Facility Report.
Federal Facilities Added to SFIP
In June 2001, data for a subset of major federal
facilities in the United States were added to SFIP.
In order to be included in SFIP, federal facilities must be
classified as a "major" facility under at least
2 of the following 3 statutes: the Clean Air Act (CAA), the
Clean Water Act (CWA), and the Resource Conservation and Recovery
Act (RCRA). This expansion means that communities can
now obtain important compliance and enforcement information
about some local federal facilities, and the facilities themselves
will be encouraged to become more accountable.
