Photos - Personal Protective Clothing and Equipment (PPE)
Site personnel wear personal protective clothing and equipment (PPE) to prevent risks to personnel from vapors, gases, and particulates from hazardous waste site activities. Selecting the proper PPE for a site involves identifying the potential hazards that may be faced, the work requirements, and task-specific conditions, as well as assessing the durability and performance of the PPE material. PPE ensembles are classified into 4 levels (See Personal Protective Equipment for more information), depending on the need for protection at a specific site. In this picture, a person is helping a responder don a Level B personal protective suit and respiratory protection. |
