    Synopsis: This report summarizes the progress of this reform in fiscal years 2000 and 2001, during which time EPA updated an additional 111 remedies, reducing estimated future cleanup costs by approximately $228 million. Over the two-year period, most of the remedy updates were initiated by parties outside of EPA, addressing the most common media ground water and soil. The appendices to this document provide information on all sites that had a remedy update during FY 2000 and FY 2001.

    Synopsis: Although this document is not attributable to any one reform, it presents EPA's recommendations for enhancing the roles of States and Federally-recognized Tribes in implementing the Superfund program. Through this document, EPA proposes an integrated process for implementing the recommendations to enhance State and Tribal roles, and suggests ways the process could begin under a national pilot program.

    This document is for State, Tribal, and EPA Regional audiences, and it identifies steps that EPA could take to build stronger partnerships with States and Tribes.
