Background
The San Fernando Valley (Area 3) site is a 4,400-acre area of contaminated groundwater in Glendale, California. The site is one of four Superfund sites in the San Fernando Valley. Numerous potentially responsible parties (PRPs) contaminated groundwater in the region with volatile organic compounds (VOCs), including trichloroethylene (TCE) and perchloroethylene (PCE). After EPA determined that no action was needed to address site contaminants, it took the site off the Superfund program’s National Priorities List (NPL) in 2004.
