NPL Site Narrative for Montgomery Township Housing Development

MONTGOMERY TOWNSHIP HOUSING DEVELOPMENT
Montgomery Township, New Jersey

Federal Register Notice:  September 08, 1983

Conditions at listing (December 1982): The Montgomery Township Housing Development Site is in Montgomery Township, Somerset County, New Jersey. About 13 households in the development used private wells that became contaminated with organic chemicals, including trichloroethylene. Residents now use municipal water. The State has not been able to identify the source of contamination.

Status (July 1983): EPA is preparing a Remedial Action Master Plan outlining the investigations needed to determine the full extent of cleanup required at the site. It will guide further actions at the site.

The State continues to collect ground water samples at the site to locate the plume of contamination.
