The Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) is a publicly available EPA database that contains information on toxic chemical releases and waste management activities reported annually by certain industries as well as federal facilities. EPA Speeds Up Access to Toxics Data by Early Sharing of ‘TRI’
In August, EPA began providing the 2008 TRI data files, giving communities across the United States unprecedented early access to critical information about local toxic releases. The 2008 data files are now complete, and will be used to construct the 2008 TRI National Analysis, planned for December.
TRI Launches
Online Stakeholder Discussion Forum for Issues Related to Metal Mining Industry
The TRI Program is considering modifying reporting requirements that apply to metal mining operations. To give stakeholders the opportunity to discuss issues related to a future metal mining rulemaking, we are providing stakeholders with an online discussion forum
. Comments received through the stakeholder forum will supplement preliminary regulatory development efforts and give direction to the rulemaking process. EPA plans to make the discussion forum accessible until the end of November.
TRI Data Processing Center Moves to Fairfax, Virginia

EPA Grantee Sponsors "Chemical-Right-to-Know" Web site
Through a cooperative agreement with U.S. EPA, Environmental Council of the States (ECOS) has developed the Chemicalright2know.org 
collaborative forum. The main mission of the collaborative forum is to provide access for communities, industry and all interested stakeholders on TRI and other environmental data to vet their analyses, share success stories and best practices, and collaborate on solving community chemical-related problems.
