Welcome to the Completing Form R Schedule 1 tutorial. This tutorial will explain how to complete Form R Schedule 1 with TRI-MEweb. The total running time of this tutorial is approximately 10 minutes.

Slide 2
Users enter Schedule 1 data in TRI-MEweb as they provide associated data that is reported on the Form R. For example, when entering Fugitive or Non-Point Air Emissions data for the Form R, a user must first click the "Schedule 1" button.

Slide 37
Note that the two totals - one as entered by the user and one calculated by TRI-MEweb based on Schedule 1 data - have been placed on the Form R. In addition, TRI-MEweb has reported "NA" in the other section, as well. To view the Schedule 1 data associated with this Form R, select the "Schedule 1" link in the "View Form" window.

Slide 38
Note that in the Form R section where the user elected not to provide Schedule 1 data, the Schedule 1 section has been left blank. However, in the other Form R section, the Schedule 1 data provided by the user has been included. In the case where the user reports "Not Applicable" on the Form R, the corresponding Schedule 1 section will be blank, unless there is a "Not Applicable" field provided on the Schedule 1. In that case, an "X" will be placed in the NA field.

If you elect to use the Form-based data entry method (instead of the Questionnaire), you will also need to click the "Schedule 1" button to begin data entry.

Slide 41
You must click the "Schedule 1" button to enter the total quantity (in grams) of the Dioxin and Dioxin-like Compounds category or enter quantities for each individual member of the category. TRI-MEweb will assist you in properly completing your Form R and Schedule 1 if there was a release or transfer of Dioxin and Dioxin-like Compounds resulting from a catastrophic or one-time event not associated with normal production processes.

Slide 44
If a release or transfer of Dioxin and Dioxin-like Compounds was a result of a catastrophic or one-time event not associated with normal production processes, use the "Non-Production Quantity" column to enter that portion of the release or transfer. To do so, select the "Yes, I have non-production quantities to enter" radio button and enter the portion of each quantity attributable to non-production events. If one hundred percent of this Form R section's release or transfer is attributable to non-production processes, the quantities you enter in this column should be equal to the quantities in the first column. In this example, only a portion of this Form R section's releases were attributable to non-production events, so the amounts entered in the second column are less than those in the first. To see how this data is reported on the Form R and Schedule 1, click "View Form."

Slide 46
Note that on the Form R, the total Form R section quantity - calculated based on the data provided on individual category members - is reported. This quantity includes the portions of the release that are attributable to non-production events.

Slide 48
Note that in Form R Section 8.8, TRI-MEweb has automatically calculated and reported the portion of the release or transfer that was attributable to non-production events. This quantity has not been included in the automatic calculations for Form R Sections 8.1 through 8.7.

Slide 53
In Section 8 of the Schedule 1, TRI-MEweb has automatically calculated Section 8 values - for each of the 17 category members - based on any Schedule 1 data that has been provided. In cases where release or transfer quantities resulting from catastrophic or other one-time events not associated with production processes have been reported, TRI-MEweb has not included those quantities in Section 8.1 through 8.7 calculations, but has included them in the Section 8.8 calculation.

Slide 63
TEQ quantities are calculated by multiplying the Schedule 1 quantity for an individual category-member by its toxic equivalency factor (or TEF), and then summing each of the 17 resulting products for a given Form R section. If no Schedule 1 data is provided, or the user has reported "NA", no TEQ data can be calculated.

More information about TEFs is available in the TRI-MEweb help area. Please note that TEQ data is provided only for your information. It is NOT submitted to EPA with your Form R and Schedule 1 data.
