2001 Reporting Year information is available in a series of "state" data files. The TRI RY2001 State Data Files present the data as it was released in June, 2003 and published in the Public Data Release report. Each state's data is presented in 6 files (bundled into a compressed, self-extracting format for downloading):

Note: Dioxin and Dioxin-like compounds (N150) releases, transfers, and waste management are quantified in grams. All other chemicals are quantified in pounds.

File Type 1: Facility, Chemical, Releases and Other Waste Management Summary Information. This file contains facility information (Part I on Form R and Form A) as well as most chemical information (Part II on Form R and Form A). Data elements are reported individually. The information is also disaggregated based on Waste Management code (i.e., "M" code), and aggregated up to On-site Releases, Off-site Releases, Other On-site Waste Management, and Transfers Off-site for Further Waste Management categories.

File Type 2A: Detailed Source Reduction Activities and Methods. This file contains facility information (Part I on Form R and Form A) as well as detailed information regarding source reduction and recycling activities (Part II, Section 8 on Form R).

File Type 2B: Detailed On-Site Waste Treatment Methods and Efficiency. This file contains facility information (Part I on Form R and Form A) and On-site Waste Treatment Methods and Efficiency data (Part II, Section 7A on Form R).

File Type 3A: Details of Transfers Off-site. This file contains facility information (Part I on Form R and Form A) as well as details of individual transfers off-site (Part II, Section 6.2 on Form R).

File Type 3B: Details of Transfers to Publicly Owned Treatment Works (POTW). This file contains facility information (Part I on Form R and Form A) as well as a list of POTWs (Part II, Section 6.1.B on Form R).

File Type 4: Details of Facility Information. This file contains facility information (Part I on Form R and Form A) for all facilities that have ever reported to the TRI program. The "reporting year" field at the begining of each record identifies the last year the facility reported to the TRI program.

The data contained in each of the files are tab delimited (a tab is placed between each data element). The files all have the *.txt extension, but can be opened with most spreadsheet programs or PC-based database applications. (The National file is too large to be read into a spreadsheet. You must use a database program or some other method.)
