Pollution Control Measures

Consistent with Clean Air Act requirements, EPA has designated areas as nonattainment or attainment for criteria pollutants (ozone, PM2.5, SO2, etc). Nonattainment areas, by definition, have air that is dirtier than the National Ambient Air Pollution Standards. Certain control and prevention measures will also reduce toxic air pollutants.

Sorted by pollutant
This list includes criteria pollutants and emissions of toxic pollutants in the ambient air.

Sorted by source classification
This section sorts documents by the type of source that requires emission control or prevention measures.

Sorted by technology
EPA and other agencies sometimes explore sources or sectors of potential control to determine ways to reduce air pollution.
