MESSAGE: Project Update
The purpose of this notice is to provide you with a summary of the recent activities on the metal furniture NESHAP project. While many tasks were required to complete each of the activities listed below, we are providing this information to give you a general overview of the project development.
We received the last response to the June 1998 survey in September 1998. For each of these responses, we performed various quality control checks and entered the information into a database.
We then generated a number of reports from the database to summarize information on such topics as major/minor status of the facilities; HAP usage for coating, surface preparation, and cleaning operations; and HAP content of the coatings.
From these reports we were then able to calculate emissions, for both the entire facility and individually for coating, surface preparation, and cleaning unit operations. However, these are not the only operations that are being evaluated.
Currently, we are investigating options for how to calculate the MACT floor, which will be the basis for the standard. Once the standard is established, then we will estimate the impacts of the standard, in terms of both air and non-air impacts.
