MESSAGE: Project Update
What is the purpose of this notice?
We are providing an update on the progress of the metal furniture NESHAP project and announcing our next roundtable meeting.
What have you accomplished?
We have made an initial determination of the MACT floor for cleaning and coating operations. We based the floor on combining the emissions from these two operations and calculating a single-number emissions limit in units of kg HAP/liter nonvolatiles (solids). Our work to develop MACT floors for other unit operations (that is, adhesives, mixing tanks, and storage tanks) is continuing. We intend to present MACT floor values for these unit operations at the roundtable meeting.
When and where will you hold the next roundtable meeting?
We plan to hold the next roundtable meeting on Tuesday, July 13, 1999. We have reserved Classroom No. 3 at the EPA Environmental Research Center (ERC) from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The location of the ERC is at the corner of NC Highway 54 and Alexander Drive in Research Triangle Park, NC. The call-in number is (919) 541-4486 if you cannot attend the meeting in person.
What do you intend to accomplish at this meeting?
We will present to you the MACT floor for cleaning and coating unit operations and the methodology we used to calculate this value. We will also present the MACT floor values for all other unit operations that are completed by that time. We will update you as to the progress of the rule development, coordination efforts with the other coatings rules, and our schedule for the next stage of the project. We will encourage your input on the MACT floors.
Will you provide any information before the meeting?
We plan to send information to you prior to the meeting. We will include much of the material we intend to cover at the meeting so that you will have an opportunity to review it. This information will also be posted on the metal furniture project website (http://www.epa.gov/ttn/atw/coat/mfurn/met_furn.html).
