National Emissions Inventories for the U.S.

What is the National Emissions Inventory?
EPA's Emission Inventory and Analysis Group prepares a national database of air emissions information with input from numerous State and local air agencies, from tribes, and from industry.

National Emissions Inventory Data
NEI Input Format (NIF)
The NEI Input Format (NIF) is the format most widely used by state and local agencies to transfer data to the EPA's National Emission Inventory (NEI). The current versions of the NIF and all user documentation is posted here for users to download. NIF training is also available. Quality Assurance/Quality control software for the NIF is available. NIF data submitted to EPA by the states goes through the EPA's Central Data Exchange facility (CDX).
