-
HEM-Screen can be installed on any computer with one of the following
operating systems: Windows NT, Windows 95, 98, or 2000, and
Windows XP (with the latest service pack(s) installed).
In addition, the computer must have a 233 MHz processor or better,
and a minimum memory capacity of 32 megabytes, and at least
800 Mb of available hard drive space.
HEM-3 can be installed on any WindowsT-based personal computer running Windows-98T or higher. Disk space requirements will depend on the number of Census and meteorological files that will be used. For example, for modeling facilities in a single state, the model can be run with 20 megabytes of disk space. To store nationwide Census and meteorological files, 300 megabytes of disk space are needed. The model also will need a minimum of 164 megabytes of RAM.
- Download documentation files from HEM home page, and review information on installing
and configuring HEM.
- Download the HEM-SCREEN or HEM-3 executable zip file. (See Section 3, Software Available for Download).
- Select the directory into which to install HEM and unzip/extract the executable file into that directory. This directory may
be referred to as the default directory.
HEM-Screen This program must be placed on the C-drive due to hard coding within the model. The installation program automatically installs the program with all the associated input files and input file templates in the directory C:\HEM. If a directory with that name exists, current files may be saved to another directory before installing HEM-Screen. HEM-Screen is installed using an Installer/Self Extractor program. After files are extracted, HEM-Screen is set up for use by double clicking on the file "Setup.exe" in the "C:\HEM\installer". HEM-3 An installation program allows the user to choose an installation directory, and the basic files needed to run HEM-3 will be placed in that directory. A number of sub-directories will also be created. - To complete the installation of HEM-3, the Input Files provided in Section 3 below must be downloaded to your PC. Each .ZIP file needs to be unzipped, and the contents must be placed in a particular sub-directory of the installation directory. Place the Toxicity Value Files in the "reference" subdirectory, the Census Files in the "census" subdirectory, and the Meteorological files in the "metdata" subdirectory
