Abstract:
On March 12, 2001, EPA issued a final finding that the St. Louis did not meet the 1-hour ozone standard by November 15, 1996, the attainment date for moderate nonattainment areas set forth in the Clean Air Act. Under the law, the St. Louis area is to be reclassified from a moderate to a serious nonattainment area . However, this determination will not become effective for at least 60 days from the date that the determination is printed in the Federal Register. This is EPA's notice determining that St. Louis did not meet its attainment date.
